    Hello everyone,

Can any Forum members help identify the Norwegian badge illustrated? I have also included a picture of a medal awarded for service during WW2 and some form of registration document.

All suggestions will be well received!

    Kind regards, Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm, I can only give you a very rough idea on these.

The document is for resistance (Milorg) membership.

The cap badge is certainly WW2 Free Norwegian Forces related. The H7 will refer to King Haakon 7th. I have seen one similar described as for Norwegian Army in Germany 1945 - 1950. But this did not have the "D 13" on it. This is what is trowing me on this. It could be British made. The lugs on the reverse remind me of British Officers cap badges.

The stick pin I would imagine is patriotic and would most likely have been worn in the UK. Again I would think HS = Haakon Seventh.

We have had a new forum member join this week from Norway. His name is Rolf. I am sure he will be able to help much better than me. Here is a link to his profile. Why not drop him a PM?

But I hope this has been of some little use?

    Cheers, Ade.

Well that medal is a Norwegian Defense Medal awarded to all civilian and military personal who fought against the Germans during the Nazi occupation.

    Hello Justin,

    Many thanks for this.

I was told that all three items belonged to the same individual.

I have since found a reference to a similar cap badge that was made in the UK stamped with appropriate hallmarks and lug fixings. However, it does not have the "D13" designation.

My feeling is that this example could be Norwegian made?

    Kind regards, Malcolm.

I am not expert but I think the first is a cap badge for beret, it is for Haakon the seventh and the D13 is for District nr 13 , the smal pin is a pin used for HS it means Hjemme Styrkene, in Norwegian or Home forces in english.
And last the medal is for all who served in the war 1940-45 most of them was in regular forces in 1940 and went in to the resistance after Norway surendered.
Krigs fortjeneste medalje ( war service medal)
I hope this is enough info for you .
I will see If I can find out the district also .

best regards from Rolf Gunnar Aanes Norway

    Hello Rolf,

Thank you for the interesting reply. It has helped me greatly.

As I now understand it the three items relate to a member of the Norwegian resistance during WW2?

    Kind regards, Malcolm.

    Hello from Norway

I believe the "D13" designation stands for the Oslo district of the Norwegian home front (Milorg).

    Best regards
    Gunnar
