WWII Navy Medal Bar with Unknown Pin

I picked this medal bar recently and am wondering if anyone knows what the pin is that is on the American Campaign medal. Possibly a post war add on?

I believe it's supposed to be a lapel pin, so someone
just stuck it on there.........
