.50 ammo with wooden head

Anybody ever seen this one before?? It's a .50, stamped (19)33 MR C 2
It was found in France, but I dont know if they used BMG overhere in that time. I came across the German exercitie amo for the K98k with a wooden bullet, but never in this caliber. Anybody got a clue?

I believe this is a French 13.2mm Blank round....BILL

Yeah, my understanding is that the German wooden bullet rounds were just TP (training practice); the US color code for such ammunition is blue today, so the blue head of this one seems to fit with that if they've used it for that long...
