Hello - do you have the Mauser Vergueiro M1904 rifle that uses the ammunition? - it's the only military one that uses it. I have an example and a box of 10 rounds made in Birmingham UK by the Kynoch factories of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, presumably for the South African rifles sold to them by the Portuguese during WW1. No charger clip though.

Hi, the Vergueiro cartridge is different to this one, it is 6.5x58mm rimless, the one I posted is 6.5x53R mm, my example was produced in Portugal for the Mannlicher models 1892-1893-1895 and used by the Dutch and Romanians. Sorry I confused you by calling it Portugese as it is only made in Portugal.

Hello-my mistake-I thought the dimensions might have been a typo on your part-I am surprised to find that Portugal was an exporter of non standard (for themselves) ammunition to more advanced economies as the place was one of the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in Europe through the 19th and much of the 20th centuries. Must have been the dirt cheap labour.

I was thinking they look like the Dutch round...The Germans in WW2 even produced that round...BILL
