    Hi Leonardo.

This looks like a British/Canadian 2inch mortar bomb to me, but whether it is smoke, HE or para-illum is hard to tell from this photo

    Regards etc

    My thoughts too, Ian.

Leonardo, could you take a photo of it outdoors?

I've a Para illum round and the body is the same but the tail is diffrent so I also would go with Smoke.

There is a good chance that little bugger is still live. The safety cap on the base of the fin is still in place.

Smoke round or not, you don't want it going off !!!

    Cheers

PS And I agree by the way. Definitely a 2inch Mortar round. The 'type' was denoted by the painted markings and stenciling on the main body of the mortar. This appears to be long gone in your example.

It looks very fired to me as the gas holes are open with no signs of propellent. The cap is a screw cap and remains in place even after firing, its not a safety device, it holds the ignition cart in place. All my rounds still have the cap fitted. Also, the cap at the other end is missing suggesting the smoke charge has been discharged. What is unusual (In my experience) is that the fins are still straight. I usually find them bent over, I dont know if this is from spining in the air, or on impact with the ground.
