    Hi,

I picked up a stickgrenade at the militaria fair yesterday and since I have 0 experience with these, I would appreciate some help in authenticating- & identifying it!

Among other things: I’ve searched all over the internet, but can’t seem to find a reference which has the same type of waffenamt marking on the top: The eagle almost looks imperial to me.

Other visible markings are: Remainder of the ”Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen” text and a stamp in the wooden handle, near the top, which I think partially says 1942.

So what do you think - Good period grenade?

Probably all authentic pieces. But a put together Grenade. Seems to be a combination of early head. Mid war stick . All the parts seem relic found. Maybe except the piece that joins both the head and stick which seems in better condition. Its also missing its screw cap on the bottom. If you got it for a cheap price then it seems like an alright piece!

"Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen" - Before using, insert detonator

I think this could be made by "Richard Rinker GmbH, Menden, Kreis Iserlohn"
    Waffenamt stamping: WaA65
    Stick marking: brb 1942

REF: The German WW2 M24 Stielhandgranate

Thanks for your reply! The thought of it being put together pieces crossed my mind too, since the ”fit” isn’t perfect: There are gaps between the 3 individual parts.

I wouldn’t say it was cheap, I paid 100€ for it, but then again - I have no clue what these normally sell for and really wanting one, I just coughed up the cash.

That’s a pretty good price you paid in my opinion. Some Complete ones sell for £300-400. If you can find a cap for the bottom . You will have a nice display piece for about a quarter of the price!

You did well for 100 euros. My own stick grenade set me back four times as much. Even if it is a put together piece, the parts are all authentic, and it's in better condition than most of the grenades you see being sold these days.

Thanks for the link, very interesting reference material! The waffenamt code indeed seems to add up to Richard Rinker. Now that I know the code & maker, it might be easier to find some reference pictures of the stamp!

Awesome - This makes me even happier about having bought the grenade!

I think the price was pretty good.
BTW - Some of the gaps you speak of are supposed to be there.

Some ”stickgrenade-porn” (not even sure if I just invented that term, which sort of concerns me...), after having given it a clean-up, along with a linseed oil & very fine grain sanding treatment to the grip!

Thanks again for all the replies!
