    Default Cartridge Identification Please

    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the markings are on the enclosed cartridge case? I assume is a .303?

I picked this and a few others up at Frmelles in Belgium near the "Sugarloaf" a few years ago.

Unfortunately I am of the 7.62 and 5.56 vintage!

    Many thanks,

    Toffster

It's not a 303 as they are rimmed.

    Hi Totenhead,

I found it near the 'sugarloaf' which was apparently a German strongpoint during the Battles around Fromelles (from my research) so that makes sense.

Amazing how many of these can be picked up still though I refuse to pick up too much or dig, as it is all hallowed ground as far as I am concerned with all the missing still unaccounted for.

Do you know of any decent reference books on cartridge markings going back to WW1?

Much appreciated for your help guys.
