Does any one know what this is?

Article about: Found on a local disused army camp whilst metal detecting. It is 14 cm long and 1.5 cm in diameter. The base has a thread on the inside and a small lug at the base too.

    I'm thinking its somthing like a .5 bore inspection device or similar.

    From what i can gather it lookslike a Pull / push trip switch of some kind.

    Looks to me a section of tent pole.

    It could be some type of suspension strut

    If you look at the top there is a hole where a pin is inserted/pulled. Also notice the 2 slits in the object.

    I am going to join the ferrule part of a tent pole idea, it does not look like anything ord related that i have seen before.

    Hi mate. Did you find it in Germany or near where you live? Is the white end in the 3rd picture smoke & powder residue and does it have that burnt/fired/used 'smell'?

    It does ring a bell as having something to do with a K98 like the bullet trap for the rifle grenade - the Gewehrgranatengerät but I'm not too sure.

    Hi Fritz,

    No it was found at an ex Polish Parachute Brigade site. I have restarted this thread because i would like to bring it to the attention of Steve T i notice he has not seen it.
