    Hello Chaps,
    Can anyone offer some help identifying this fuze?
    It could be either British or Japanese.
    The Thread is 20mm in diameter and the only markings are "ALR".
    It looks similar to a Japanese type 88 (small) fuze, but the thread is different.
    Any clues, would be much appreciated.

    If it was from Japan, wouldn't the lettering be in Japanese? William

    You guys are correct:
    Sorry, I should have mentioned that the Japanese captured a lot of European equipment on their way through southern China, that was being supplied to the Chinese Army.
    They used Maxim's, K98's (particularly for Sniping) and other 7.92mm weapons which you rarely read about. They were very good at salvaging anything they could lay their hands on.
    Also, at the onset of WW2 the Japanese had a fairly big stockpile of European weaponry saved up before embargos where placed on Japan.
