ID on round

Article about: Hi, Can any one tell me what this round is please i have put it with a .303 round to compare it is slightly larger than the .303. It have the head stamp of 1 1907 and CR at the bottom, i can

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me what this round is please i have put it with a .303 round to compare
    it is slightly larger than the .303. It have the head stamp of 1 1907 and CR at the bottom, i cant find any info on it. i would appreciate any answers.

    The monogram at the bottom is probably GR for George Roth of Vienna,it looks like an 8x50r Steyr round,but I`ve been wrong before......Pete.

    Hi you could be right about the GR the G is a lot smaller than the R thanks

    Hi Pete,
    just checked with the info you gave and you are right on the dot, it is a Austrain Mannlincher it,s good to find out what it is as iv not seen one before, and it is in very good condition.
