Large naval (?) arty. Shell -- period??

Article about: This big, hollow, fuseless mutha' is 6 1/2 x 21" and over 100 lb. I guess iron with copper driving band. I just pulled it out of a neighbor's garden. So far see no marks. Cw? Spanam war

    Cw? Spanam war? WWI/II ? I.d. Help appreciated; also best way to clean it. Thanks!
