Took my latest k98 russian capture for a test run and decided to test some yugoslavian ammo.

Target 1- 1940 pre war ammunition
Target 2- post war yugo ammunition
Target 3- m75 "sniper" boat tail ammunition

The sniper ammo performed worse at 100 yards open sights. I'm sure it would make a difference if using a more modern rifle but for our beloved milsurps, don't waste your money as they are twice as expensive.

Looks like the pre war collectable stuff is better to shoot!!!LOL

Were these clean barrel shots or just 1,2,3 as you were shooting?

So what is the size of your target? Outer ring to outer ring

Exactly my point that I was making on your other Ammo that you won't use! The Yugoslavian ammunition is excellent. I went to the factory some years back and an impressive facility it was too.

I find their .303 in Ball is the best available.

Boat-tailed bullets generally don't do as well in rifles with relatively more worn bores as they have less bearing surface. Most high quality ammo or even just the bullets don't really reveal their capabilities unless you're shooting at significantly longer distance.

But with bayonets you can be stuck with other problems......Pete.

Just bench rest shots and the targets are about 8 inches edge to edge.

The SMLE new was only designed to shoot 4 minutes of angle!

Bayonets are ok but the problem is you have to be very close to someone who is generally trying to do to you what you wish to do to them!! My SMLE shoots well with a nice piece of Wilkinson Sword on the front, in fact it rides the recoil far better with than without. The G98 on the other hand is bloody awful with a serrated butcher fitted, it is unwieldy and the poor balance makes it less accurate to a noticeable degree.

Oh and as a Englishman, when I fit the bayonet to my SMLE I get the yearning urge to take steel to the Hun! However when you fit the bayonet on the G98 you just want to attack nuns and children! ;-)
