Leuchtpistole flare casing made of brass

Got this german flare and I wonder if it is a flare made specially for use by kriegsmarine , on ship and u-boot? It is made of brass and is 10 cm long. Anyone has any info on these?

Is there anything marked on the base ?

Nothing on this one. Its german for sure though , a friend of mine got a zink box with rests of labels on where this one came from..
