    That had been my first thought before I made my wrong guess about being fired in a 30-06. However, I am fairly sure that the German cases were necked before they were capped.

    Don't think so, the Germans did not use bag charges in their own guns, although they may have had captured weapons that did.

    a 7,92 can be fired in a 30-06 rifle
    here is a picture from the norwegian military museums colection.
    at least four rounds were fired before the shooter noticed the mistake.

    Yes it can be fired,but it wont blow out straight as the original case shown,I still say the original case was someone making a case for a 10.75x57 Mauser......Pete.
