MK2 Story

After years away from collecting,I stumbled acrooss this site. Before passing away,my father gave me his "trophys". The story behind the MK2 was it was gave to him by a soldier on LCI 595 where he was a gunner , on D-Day,the soldier that gave it to him said"remember me,I won't make it past that beach" Hopefully,I'll get around to getting pictures up of the gorgets,Helms,and medals he brought back. Could anyone tell me where I can get a spoon at a reasonable price?

Simple and short, but very sad story. Looks like these guys knew that many of them were going to their deaths. They must have had pure fire flowing through their veins.

An original lever may be $20 or more.....

You will also most likely need components for the fuse - and pull pin/ring.
When you add these original parts, complete, the grenade
should be worth at least $250.

Is the base of this grenade smooth, or is there a screw-plug ?

Walkwolf; Bottom is smooth.. Striker & springs ok. I have a "local'' collector wanting it and my other stuff. Strange,after all these years after my fathers passing, it still belongs to him.Did these have the felt washer and safety pin? Thanks for your help!!

Don't think there is supposed to be a felt washer between the fuse and body,
but possibly one made of fibre or hard rubber. Washers may or may not have
been in use then - I'm not really sure, as most of the the grenades I have
are either missing them, or they are post-war rubber type............

Try Ed Strazdes at 'inertord' on the net for a lever and further questions.
He may be able to direct you to one for sale. ( You'll want an original
WWII 'M10A3' series lever - the correct type for this grenade ! )


Of course the local collector wants your stuff. It's all 100% period original
WWII militaria, which is becoming harder to come by these days,
and more expensive............!

I would keep the things in the family.
