Default Mortar Grenade..Best Birthday Gift In A While!

Here is something I got in the mail yesterday....on my birthday!!
It was timed perfect! from my overseas friend.

It is a Soviet 50mm Mortar shell that has been converted into a hand grenade...A "Carrot" grenade by use of a special bakelite adapter. I have seen these many times in photos, and thought they were much bigger sized, because I have never seen a comparison picture next to a "regular" grenade.....and I have never have handled a 50mm Soviet mortar shell.

For those of you who were like me, and had no idea of true size, here is a pic next to a US MK2 "pineapple" (from the Hurtgenwald battlefields....another friend...last year : ) )
for size comparison purposes. It's actually a little grenade.

Thanks Phil......it was a nice day. And my new toy made it nicer.

I love this thing, it's one of my favorites. Now I need to find the other type with fuze adapter at the small narrow end. Might be a while, they are more uncommon than this type.

    Regards, Steve
