Article about: Hello folks. Picked this one up last week. These aren't hard to find by any means, but they are hard to locate at a reasonable price. This one is in lovely condition, with most of the painte

P.S. When ammunition, it is Fuze not Fuse which is a 13 Amp type.
    William Bickford would be disgusted!
In your trade Fuse is a filled "tube" or "hose" used to initiate detonators

Indeed - that's why I highlighted 'well-known dealer' in my post. To be fair, back in the early 1990s I went to a large fair at Arlon in Luxemburg. There was some great stuff there, but some items ( eg Panzerfausts etc ) were certainly not deactivated ! Very Wild West......

But that was then, and things have since tightened up a lot over there.

None of the above applies to objects found in muddy fields. We've said it on here many times - don't touch !

( PS : Yes, the sand works well - giving the No 69 a very satisfactory 'feel'. )
    BB, Martin,

Two points the amount of No36M that I have dealt with that still have Baratol around the detonator well is easily in the dozens and that is in UK and that includes at source at dealers, like the militaria dealer that sold a live 69 Grenade to a Cadet instructor who had in on display in his detachment). The last purge on dealers and collectors in uk, (mainly dealers) was 2004 / 2005 and of the 10 visited, (raided) all 10 were prosecuted for numerous violations.

Secondly the use of yellow sand look remarkably like yellow Baratol! This is an easy way to really annoy us and to get a situation escalated to an alarming level! The one pictured would without a doubt be getting disposed of if I saw that even though not quite Baratol Yellow in colour. If you really must put something in there use something that is bright red or pink or fluorescent green and recognizable as wrong. It is the same as people who paint inert, practice or drill items as the live variant. We will treat them as such but in doing so if we Dem in situ then we risk damage to the surroundings or worse! All for no reason!

Don't use coloured fillings.... Our PETN is PINK!!!, TNT can turn red brown in the presence of the right minerals, we don't like green due to the oxidation products of copper, etc. etc....
Granulated glass is cheap and not readily mistaken for Explosives.
Still wouldn't recommend storing one here with the fill screw in, I'm pretty sure the Police Squad get a bigger Bonus for a bigger bang and one that's found outside (or looks like it was) get's dem'd cos the damned Tommy's could be right Bastards when they wanted to and no-one takes the risk of unscrewing the Cap to check if the pin's still in

    Martin,

I am not annoyed, I just do this for a living, more a vocation really after 40+ years. What I offer is heartfelt advice from experience.

Teck, as discussed our circumstances are different with your allied munitions either being blind or predominately live. Ours are 50/50 live and unusually blind, except outdoors on old or current military sites when the odds are about the same as yours.

There is a cheeky way to deal with 247 fuzes but I'l tell you next time we discuss work as it depends upon what weapons you have available.

The TNT red brown is totally different to bright red, however I will give you the pink. It is nice to see you in touch with your female side with your PETN but wow what bloody awful explosive to use. You definately need to join the 21st century and get something better.

True it's not bright red but how many people even in the trade do you know that have seen the complete myriad of explosive colours and reactions available then (and now)? I've got a Lexikon on my desk that says most of them are lying anyway.
Now ask a Bobby that fell into c-ied (yes it's a Police and not specialist role here) if they can tell the difference.
I certainly wouldn't go experimenting with fillings, for some of them if it feels full it must be real

About the Pink. And this is going to annoy some.
I've said it often enough before: Germany doesn't have an Army... It's just a Heer (from the Bundeswehr)
