Origin of 75mm

Article about: I was given these two today, after finding the shop keepers lost car keys (!) They are 75mm in diameter, I am hoping that they have a certain origin. Anyone know where they come from?

    Anybody have any guess where they come from. Could it be Italian? Or German? Age?

    Hi Ande,

    The shells you have are from a French '75' field gun. Late 19th early 20th century, these guns were used to deadly effect during WW1, utilising various types of shell such as shrapnel, H.E., A.P., groundburst, airburst etc.

    I hoped it would be Italian.
    A german train with italian ammo exploded in my town on its way to Finland, during ww2.
    I would like to find one of thous shells.

    I have now found out that the train had french ammo onboard!
