    This shell was uncoverd in the desert near Barstow in 1982. There is a threaded small hole in the base. it is approximately 3.5" in diameter and 10.25" tall.

    I think this may be a WWII era 90mm armor piercing anti-tank round.

    That's interesting, the guy who found it said he was riding his dirt-bike and the object was partially buried in the sand. When he drove over it he was knocked off his bike and tossed into some sage brush. He went back and dug it out of the ground and brought it home. He was using it to crush walnuts by putting the nuts in a plastic bag and rolling the shell over them. The shell is a heavy sucker and did a right nice job of it.
