    Well.....it's a 2 pounder. Looks to be WW1 era. Many of the stamps mean little to us as they were check marks and inspection marks, made at the factory. I've attached some pics from a book I have. Sorry for quality but it will give you an idea at least

    VSM is proably going to be Vickers Sons and Maxim, made 1916 for Naval service. (Just seen I've duplicated the info in Steves post)
