The Tundra and climatic conditions of Karelia and the Eismeerfront are one of the best areas in the world for preservation and many items are found in excellent condition , it is also common to find Grenade cases full of M24's especially in Lakes where they were disposed of after Battles or after the German withdrawal in 1944.

As has been pointed the initial SS Kampfgruppe Nord was formed from units of the Totenkopfverbande hence the many TK EKM that are found in the area.

    No problems with these M24's.
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I guess its the old saying,, Ignorance is bliss

There are fakes out thee but I haven't seen any SS stick related fakes as yet,, but they will appear at some point.

I have another variant of the SS handle here .. will post that later also. it is a smaller style stamp of the SS,

    Best Regards Nick

I'll still stand by my initial statement in post #3. I Like them and certainly wouldn't mind having them myself. Superbly preserved in the high North lake mud.

It's amazing to see items found in this state after all those years.
Still see it a lot on the eastern front like a while ago where they found a soldier in full gear and his paperwork was in perfect condition, even the picture of the soldier.
Or where they found a chest containing personal items and clothing of the soldier as if it was buried yesterday.
