Paper labels lasting 70 years in a lake? Pull the other one...it plays jingle bells.
Sorry Glenn but it's actually not unrealistic. I have found quite a few items with intact/partly intact labels in swamped areas

    Cheers

    Hi Kradman,
Mine came from the museum that was just outside Avranches. The chap was originally a livestock feed merchant and Normandie was his patch so finding kit on farms in the area must have been just so much fun for him in the 60's. He could have picked the stick up anywhere in Normandie, there is not telling exactly where he got it.

Hi.. Totally agree Datrus, I have seen many recovered items and amazed at how well preserved some of them are ( not as many as Kradman ) low oxygen and acidity helps. As for the SS stamps and some of the earlier comments about their authenticity it would be nice to see more comments from collectors who are now enlightened as there originality and their thoughts?

    Regards Nick.
