    Default US Mk. II Grenade

Hi everyone! I picked up this MKII grenade. I believe it is labeled AF for American Fireworks. Not sure what "E" means. I "think" everything is correct and period original.

It does kind of lean a bit at some angles from uneven grinding on the bottom, so that's not the photo. Surprisingly heavy at 533 grams all together (minus the explosives and percussion cap of course).

Nice one. A must have for a collection IMHO.

I don't study these but would guess (and just that), that the E is maybe short for HE (high explosive). Again just a guess.

Here is a site that gives a brief oversight of these.

I like it! Upon doing some research on the mk2, I found out they were designed by john Browning. Never knew that but I really feel I should have.
We have met the enemy and have learned nothing more about him. I have, however, learned some things about myself. There are things men can do to one another that are sobering to the soul. It is one thing to reconcile these things with God, but another to square it with yourself. - Robert Leckie

I didn't know that either. Interesting tidbit! Thanks for pointing it out.

Very nice grenade. Essential for any WWII US display, and a great example with the yellow band.

Beautiful example of a WWII MKII Grenade with a M10A2 spoon. The EK shows the spoon was made by Eastman Kodak and this one has the rarer backwards Z. Congrats on a nice piece.

I had the unfortunate experience to destroy dozens and dozens of these last year while deployed.

By destroy I mean throw them and experience the power of a MkII grenade. At least until my demolition guys showed up with explosives to destroy the rest of them.

I kept some fuses however... it was a shame.
