    Default Zt.Z.S/30 Fg1 Fuze

One of my first purchases of 2019. A WW2 German mechanical time nose fuze as used on the 88mm and 105mm flak guns for high explosive shells. You may of heard of the Zt.Z.S/30 Fuse which is the same in external appearance. The difference is as followed
The motive power in the Zt.Z.S/30 comes from a clock spring.
The fuze i present., The Zt.Z.S/30 Fg1 - motive power comes from the centrifugal force of being fired. Both fuzes have a maximum run time of 30 seconds. If you want to read up more on this fuze have a look here.

The Fuze has been made by kqd/Gebr.Junghans AG, Uhrenfabrik in 1942. They are watchmakers and military fuze makers who are still in business today Artillerie - JUNGHANS Microtec . I guess if you were watch maker there, These timed fuzes would not be that different of a change to make.Just a more complicated timer in a cone when you think about it!

Overall a pretty cool piece. Next on my list would be to get the regular Zt.Z.S/30 fuze. Or maybe a complete 88mm round. Who knows! Enjoy the pictures.

I picked one up at the War & Peace show a couple of years ago with it's bakelite container for £10.00. I have to say the fuze has surface rust and pitting, but for that price I was not going to complain.
