A minty duo Glenn! The silver badge is especially interesting as it has a major flaw that passed Q.C. on the end of the barrel. Examples like this are hence considered rather rare.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

Thanks Ned, by major flaw are you referring to what looks like a defect to the end of the barrel? On closer inspection it is the onset of plating loss and perhaps a smidge of zinc pest. Could it be time to rub some vasoline on my barrel?

    Hi Glenn,

You're right, it's got a touch of the pest appearing rather than the barrel flaw I was referring to. I can't for the life of me find a pic at the moment that shows what it looks like unfortunately, but it resembles a barrel that's been spiked and then fired!

I would personally give the affected areas on the badge a dab of Vaseline worked in gently with a cotton bud/Q-Tip to stop any further corrosion, as once it get's a grip it can spread rapido.

    Regards, Ned.
