Thanks guys I appreciate all the opinions and the research on it,great forum!This badge looks like it was actually worn as the silver finish shows wear on high points exposing the brass base metal.These must not be real common as the ones I have come across have the solid back.I took a gamble on it and this time I won!
I don't think it is rare, but being an early version I would say it is uncommon. Just a guess on my part.
