Panzerkampfabzeichen

Article about: Hi guys, this caught my eye as it has the honour of being reduced in price where I saw it. How does it look to you? Also, which is more loved, the bronze or silver version?

So, on a time scale, which is earliest?

JŠnos's hollow with round wire catch?

Ralph's hollow with square section catch?

    Or Ned's solid tombac?

Earliest, hollow tombak chaos grass, these badges have are very light about 12-13 grams. Than comes the hollow tombak organized grass pattern, weight about 20 grams. Than the solid tombak. About the catch, I don't think its a square one, but if it is the first I have ever seen on a Wurster, of course if its not a repaired one.

Here is a better photo of the catch on my example. I will take some more from other angles.

Ralph's badge may well have a "C" shaped square section catch, in which case it is extremely rare. I know of only two others like that, one is owned by Phillipe de Bock, author of the bible on Panzerkampf Abzeichen's.

Edit: That's the one Ralph! Did you know what you had?

I don't believe it is round wire Adrian. I will go and have a look and take a few more photos.

Here's an example of a Wurster hollow backed Panzerkampf Abzeichen with a square section wire catch. It belongs to Phillipe de Bock. He writes that he has only ever come across this type of catch on the "Die 2" type 1.2.3. "Organised Grass" hollow back Panzerkampf Abzeichen by this maker, and non of the other types they produced.

    The photo's are his.
