Do you have a better closer photo of the hinge pin and plate as well as a straight on shot of the eagles head?

Like in these photos in the link

    Panzerkampfabzeichen - Karl Wurster

I think it is a well worn unmarked Type 4.2.3 Frank & Reif based on the reverse hardware (maybe, pending photos of the hinge) as well as that "big eye" of the eagle (again, pending photos of the eagles head) and also the very weakly define grass pattern.

Maybe even some early stage zinc pest but could just be the grainy photos.

    These are quite common

Just realized I have one of these. Compare to mine (early cell phone photos so not the best)

Happy to look at the others. Please post clear straight on photos of the front, with a close up of the eagles head. On the reverse, please also include photos of the hinge and catch. Details in the height and type of hinge, as well as the shape of base are sometimes important in determining maker and originality

You have this one in hand but I can't see any wash left so not sure if it is silver or bronze. If it does have early stage zinc pest, might be good to put a light coat of Vaseline on it. Swap it with a Q-Tip, let it sit for a few days so it can be absorbed and the wipe off as much as you can. You can't cure zinc pest this can stop it from spreading.

I have started a data base that you have access to as a Gold member, to compare any that you have as well.
