Default Panzerkampfabzeichen - Bronze - AS marked - Real or Fake?

    Hi Guys,

I told Adrian I would post some pictures of various war badges to see if you can let me know which is real (if any) or fake?

As before I collected these at least 15 - 20 years ago before forums, internet etc. as a young lad so go easy on me. I have become a bit better educated since then!

Please note this has been terribly repaired by one of my brothers that broke it and thought I wouldn't see the damage (see pin at top - glue!).

I don't think you need to worry about the break or repair, sorry to say, I believe this is a copy.

    Hi Ralph,

I thought as much. Oh well only cost around $50 or so around 15 years ago. Thats the way it goes!

Many thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

Sorry but it's an old fake I'm afraid. A.S. in triangle MM should be directly behind the swastika on an original. Furthermore, the real thing were always scooped out on the reverse, not flat backed like this one. Finally, the metal quality is actually better in the fake than the original!

This bogus design has recently started cropping up again, being produced by Staegemeir/Hero, one of the better fakers.
