Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
IMO these broad style catches are mostly seen on fakes.

There is a reference book for the panzer assault badge.
It comes in two volumes
The Panzer Assault Badge of World War II, by Philippe De Bock.
It is not my collecting field,but i have the reference book from Philippe de Bock.The catch from the starting badge in this thread,it is not a catch that normaly was used from Frank & Reif.The maker mark is also a red flag imo....the frontpictures are to small,but imo also a fake.
Here are some more pics. So are we calling this one a fake?
