It looks like a perfectly good zinc Herman Aurich to me. Not much wear but virtually no finish left

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
Other than the fact it's lost all of it's finish, the badge itself looks fine.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.

It looks okay to me as well.
You can compare it to this original here.
Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber, Hermann Aurich
Ralph.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
nothing wrong with it.
I have to disagree. IMO there is hardly any finish left whatsoever, compare it to Ralph's example in his link and you'll see the difference. These badges are by no means rare, and one with better finish can easily be found right up to stone mint. But the more finish the more money! If cost is an issue here then perhaps it's not worth worrying about these details though.

OK, how about the price of a badge. Without finishing?
I would suggest you look around the dealer sites and associated forum websites that have a sales page like Estand on WAF etc. there are hundreds, then you can make a considered choice on how much you wish to spend. The vast majority of Panzerkampfabzeichen's for sale these days are normally zinc, with little finish remaining and/or broken or repaired. It's getting harder and harder to find a badge in decent condition, and the earlier tombak/nickel silver types even more so. Good luck.
