Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber, Friedrich Orth opinions

I'm new at the forum and I need your help with this badge . Presumed to be an original Panzerkampfabzeichen maker marked F.o. ( Friedrich Orth ) with a new pin.

Hi Ultra,

The badge you show is a fake version of the rare Friedrich Orth type 5 'Vienna design' Panzerkampfabzeichen that is synonymous with makers from that area like Souval, Hobacher, Wallpach etc. It's the second time in a couple of weeks that I've seen this unusual copy that appears to have an integral 'cast in' hinge that is not correct for this particular badge or maker, it should be a small block tombak hinge within a raised edge recess as shown on my bronze and silver examples here.



Here's a comparison of another the same as the one you show, but missing it's pin so that you can see what looks like the incorrect integral hinge. There are a few other slight problems that I won't go into detail about here, but for instance the maker mark and catch don't match originals exactly.

So, a fair attempt, but not good enough.

The casting has picked up some details from the original badge the mold was taken from.
I wonder if these are being done using the centrifugal moulding system.

I think I may have to confine my collecting from Ex Vet (verified) collections.
