Article about: In many of my books I included many photographs with the wearing of daggers, and occasionally swords. One of such books is for example: "Aiguillettes of the Third Reich". This book

    Thanks Ger,
maybe I will continue with some material which I haven't used in books or so!
Some navy, early airforce and so. Army is not my field and I do not know if I
have interesting material from there to show.
Later I may dig in my box with material I used for the aiguillettes-book. I am
quite sure there will be some interesting material. So....there is coming more
    anyway!

    Larry C:
photo#1...I always thought flag consecrations were reserved for Hitler?

    Daggers etc. in my books

    Here is the answer briefly:
the DE for all political organizations was consecrated by Adolf, so for the SA, SS, NSKK and NSFK.
Lower "classed" flags as the Sturmfahne and Sturmstander were largely consecrated by high ranked
persons, for the SA this was Lutze, or a high ranked individual who Lutze assigned to do so.
For the NSKK this was merely Hühnlein or higher ranked persons as inspectors. So Gruppenführer
    Karl Offermann
(the Kraftfahrinspekteur Ost) just does, what he was ordered to do, as he is the
Kraftfahrinspekteur (see part from an announcement from the NSKK Verordnungsblatt, nr. 10
from June 15, 1934 where Korpsbefehl Nr. 16 from April 29, 1935 is being mentioned).
A person ranked as Kraftfahrinspekteur could order a Brigadeführer to do this job!

    Daggers etc. in my books

    Larry C: photos 6 & 7: about chain.

All individuals with this photograph are NSKK related. None of them is from the SA. They all were assigned
to the section: Ausbildungswesen (training and education). Specifically from the Reichs-Führerschule at
    Zeesen.

    Daggers etc. in my books

It is easy to see none of them is SA: they all wear the black breeches, a typical piece of uniform for those with a
    technical branch!

Occasionally I may add interesting information or a photograph, as an extra addendum.
Related to post 23: here I showed some photographs from the Grosses Militär-Waisenhaus
from Postdam, to which I still have a bond.

Maybe it is of some interest to know, that every year former students hold a celebration, a festivity
related to the year of institutioning of the Waisenhaus. June 1 through June 3, 2014 some of the
"survivors" attended the celebration for the 290'est year of existance of Potsdam.

A few photographs are shown, flying their flag (about which I wrote an article for the German
"Militaria"-magazine: "Fahne und Flaggen vom Waisenhaus Postdam, 1821-1945).

Sorry for the quality of the photos, but this is what was send too me by their magazine:
Die Kuppel! This magazine was also in existance during the war!!

For use in a future book from the series "Headgear of Hitler's Germany",
specifically a volume about national socialist education, so cropped:

Not cropped: the SA Chief-of-staff during a visit at the Reichsschule der NSDAP at
Feldafing in January 1941. This school also was known as the NS (Deutsche) Oberschule
Starnberger See in the earliest years of existance.

The swastika and symbol of three waves was in 1934/1935 included with their trumpet-
    banners.
The SA instructors do wear the regular SA-dagger; students did not wear a dagger:

And just a great portrait from a member from the SA-Feldjägerkorps with a close-up
from his bayonet. According to the "Anzugs-Ordnung für die SA" from March 1, 1934
this officially was the nickled Polizeiseitengewehr with brown leathered scabbard.

From Post# 28 the chain in question which i thought may have matched Viktor Lutze at the podium dagger..it appears there are slight differences between the 2 chains..and also IMO..it also appears that Lutzes dagger scabbard has some extra length to it than the standard em version.

Thanks Larry. I scanned the dagger part again with other conditions,
but this is all what I get. Maybe you have a better view now? The
photo is a reproduction; the original one I have sold for many years!

Larry he had at least 2 chained daggers, one has that extra long chain, and 1 older ones with the classic 5 and 3 link chain.
The podium dagger is the older one with the 5 links on the lower chain if i count correctly ( bottom one is hard to see, but there, a bit bend forewards)
The place of the lower chain fitting which is placed higher on the scabbard is the older one , and i think its the one that is shown here.
It just looks longer because the lower fitting is placed a bit higher on the scabbard, makes the lower part look longer.

I will continue with material from my books for this thread as soon as possible.
First I have to do some research from my files for a guy, who is planning a book
with a totally different subject, related to musicians.
I possibly will be able to assist him with some of my material.
