That is a very nice piece of history you have there. So I thought I'd do a little google searching and perhaps find the song.
I came upon a link that I didn't expect and has nothing to do with the song but it sure had me captured for a while now.
It is a Life magazine but be forwarned that while you see Donald Duck there are also some pictures that some may not wish
to view.
I think you'll find it interesting and I'm going back to search for that song.

It's the traditions song for the Imperial-era 2. Ober-Elsässisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 171 [2nd Upper Alsatian Infantry Regiment No. 171].
Garrisoned at Colmar (which is also referred to in the text), it was part of the Prussian Army's 39th Division which fought at Verdun and the Somme.
