    Default Auschwitz letter

    Buying this one but will be giving it to the school i work in. I would appreciate serious comments regarding its authenticity.

    After seeing the letter I´m convinced its original but I´m still dubious about it beeing worth buying for a school History Class collection, maybe.. Opinions welcome.

    Jan, did you ever acquire this piece? I realise that this is indeed an older thread, but I hope that when you posted this originally, you received some comments with regards to the item shown above and they persuaded you to take it. The letter shown is an original example written by a political prisoner at KL-Auschwitz, dated April 1944. There are no concerns regarding the stamp, furthermore, the letter has clearly been kept where the light was able to get at it, either that or on the top of something for a very long time. Its a fine example and an important piece of history.

    Perfectly understandable Jan. And a decision that many others would make I feel. Nobody should ever comment regarding another's choice of area, as we are all individuals in our own right. I admired your initial wish to use the piece to educate though, as that is one area where such artifacts as this, can do a great service.
