    Andreas beat me to it. I am not sure of the German term but based on the simplicity of the shoulder boards I would expect he was the equivalent to a 2nd Lieutenant. But I could be wrong.

    As stated - Polizei. The cap insignia, chin cord, shoulder boards, belt, and sidearm all show this is an officer. The uniform appears to be Tropical. Are you able to see the reverse of the photo? It may have some notation. Neil

    Thanks Neil. I had to replace the glass after it was delivered. A very old piece of paper covered the back of picture so I did nothing else but replace glass. I believe he is in either Greece or Crete.
