Yes, you are right, he died on 13th May 1945 and as written in the paper Nach sorgenvollemwarten und erhielten wir erst jetzt die traurige Nachricht, that they got the sad news late.

Either way, the poor guy died After the war was over....One wonders just what his wound Was? Belated death from the closing days of the war? A vengeance killing After the war? At least he got to see the end of the war (assuming he was conscious)
