Does this look real, opinions? Has supposedly been in the same person's ownership for 40 plus years.
Thx!

Can't really tell much from the pictures, but it Does look Extremely unhandled and unbent up from being carried around for 5 years and then stored for 6 1/2 decades. Maybe you've just gotten lucky and found a nice minty condition document? More pictures are needed, of course-particularly of the photo portrait page.

Do these things have any particular value, I mean enough for there being fakes out there?
They're faking Mother's Crosses and Russian Front badges these days.....it's just sickening. Value for average German Passports like these are generally in the $50-60 dollar range. This one is is, as said, exceptionally nice shape, so maybe even a little bit more. Is it genuine? Probably. Unless it's made out to a known personality, like you said, they're not exactly high on the fakers lists, but today, who the heck knows anymore.

A Jewish marked passport? Interesting...Now the antennas go up! But, it is Still looking fairly good. Value of a Jewish marked passport? Easily double the normal.

Interestingly, the decree of August 1938, applying to German and stateless Jews, requiring them to add either Israel or Sara to their existing names, did not apply to Austria. A later decree, in early 1939, applied to both Austria and the annexed Sudetenland.

Seems to be all there, can't see any red flags. Does the date on the third page close to the red J match the dates inside? Does the name of the owner pop up on other lists like the holocaust victims list?
Seen J marked Reisepasses sell for over 500 euros.
