Document to Gren Regt 15 , 29 Panzer Grenadier Divison
Just picked up this VWA in Silber award document to a Stabsgefreiter in 11/( Jager ) /Gren Regt 15 (Mot ) from 29 Panzer Grenadier Divison formally 29 Infanterie Div ( Mot ).
First wound was at Stalingrad , the issue date was whilst the Divison was resting for 3 weeks to the west of Stalingrad but will have taken place duriing the advance into southern Stalingrad with Hoths Panzer Korps . The other dates are for fighting in Italy near the Trasimenischen See and then around Rimini , despite researching all my 29 Div info / books i cannot find out who was the Btl Fuhrer who signed it any ideas anyone ?

Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.

But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Hello,
The commanding officer's name looks like "Malapert" to me. Unfortunately, there are not many details to this family name which was possibly of Belgian origin. The only person of a similar family name, which I came across, was a Luftwaffe captain and holder of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Robert-Georg Freiherr von Malapert-Neufville.

It does look something like that , but i cannot find such a name on the Officer lists i have . Unfortuantely a veteran friend who was with this Bn is no longer with us !

According to the 1944 DAL there is a Hauptmann Frhr. von Malapert, gen. von Neufville who previously served with Pz.Gren.Rgt 5 (which could also mean Schützen-Rgt 5). It is entirely possible that this is the signer but without further corroborating details it is hard to be certain.
