I just got this piece of paper! It's ripped in two parts unfortunately but still a nice new item for the collection.

Thanks Stuka F! What do you mean by 'Demob' paper? Perhaps nice to now that I found it inbetween a stack of old german papers... Very lucky!

    The document says...
    Obverse:

    "The Commander
of the Security Police and the Security Service
    for the occupied Dutch territories
    Police Transit Camp
    Ammersfoort

    Ammersfoort, 6 Oct. 44

    Release Certificate
    van der HARST, Pieter
born 7 Apr. 19 in The Hague
has been released from the Police Transit Camp today.

    The Camp Commandant:

    [signed: Berg]
    SS-Untersturmführer"

    Reverse:

    "Remarks.
v.d.H. has been medically examined here in this camp and is unfit for commitment to work in Germany.
He is being released on condition that he immediately report to the German consultant of the Labor Office in charge of him.

    The Camp Commandant

    [signed: Berg]
    SS-Untersturmführer."

That is truely a fantastic and, might I say, very lucky find Mikel. I can't believe the Germans would rule any male unfit to work by 1944. As usual, thank you for the superb translation H.P.

Thanks. Here is a link to SS-Untersturmfuhrer ''Berg'' (camp commander)this must be the guy who signed the paper. The link is in Dutch but there are ways to translate: Kamp Amersfoort Historie 41-43 Het Kamp SS uitbreiding

    Reverse .
I hope it's clear that these were for the release of an INMATE - nothing to do with Dutch SS volunteers , like the thread title might suggest ..
