    Hi all,

Not so sure if this is known, but in the first issued Israeli passports from 1948 to the early 1950's most passports where valid to all countries (except Arab) and stated not valid for Germany; this is duly to the fact that after WW2 and the founding of Israel it was not conceivable for a Jew to travel to Germany via an Israeli issued passport.

Here is an early example: an early passport, one of the first issues, dating from 1950, still being called a LAISSEZ-PASSER.
Issued to American born WW2 pilot who immigrated to Israel in 1949 to join the Israeli air-force. This passport states NOT VALID FOR GERMANY.

Today, one of Israel's favorite European destinations is Germany...

Place of birth states Israel because he converted to Judaism in Tel Aviv...then given a Jewish name (original name was: Trygve Johannes Maseng).

Really cool Neil. Now this guy was a dedicated pilot. I'm amazed that Germany is a popular tourist attraction for Israelis. Many years have passed, so that's must be a good thing.
