Hi everyone,i picked up this pair of documents today to a certain Gefreiten Karl Eisenfeller of the 2/Fallsch.Jg.Rgt 3. The group is obviously incomplete as there is an award for the EK1 but no such document for the EK2! The other document is for the Luftwaffe para badge, unfortunatly both documents have been "glued to a piece of card" as they were once framed. Anyway, could anyone help me with the signitures and any information on the unit? I believe the 2/battalion may have served in Russia at the time of the awards, but my "google translate" is not perfect on the Wehrmacht lexicon site!!! Thanks in advance, Leon.

    Very nice documents!!!
Here is a very basic order of battle:
(you may want to look into which companies were involved in what tho)

    KRETA (Chania) 1940
RUSSIA (Neva river near Kelkowo and Wyborgskaja) 1941
    AFRICA (El Dab`a) 1942
    RUSSIA (Smolensk) 1942
    SICILY (Catania Airfield) 1943
ITALY (Gustav Line & Casino) 1943-44
    FRANCE (Normandy) 1944

I could be very wrong, but the EK1 looks like it says "Student" as in General Kurt Student (who was convicted of war crimes in Kreta)

If you are game Leon you could try steaming the BACK of the cardboard to see if the glue softens. Maybe you can save them if only a small amount was used ( if it was spread all over then this is as good as they will be ) ...... just my 2c

    Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan,i did think about trying that, but then I thought it was probably best to leave them as they are in case the signitures began to bleed from the moisture! Leon.

Leon there is an excellent photo history of FSJ 3 during their time fighting in the Neva River , well worth getting hold of as your man could be in it.

The EK I Award was almost certainly for the Battle of Crete and is signed by Kurt Student.

The 2 refers to the 2 Kompanie which would place him in I Btl.

Thank you Paul for the information,is the book an old/new publication or are you referring to the wartime produced fallschirmjager book(with the cammo cover)? Thanks, Leon. (Just got your link!!!! Thanks again Paul.)
