    Default Feldpost ? Letters.

    Hi,

I found this interresting envelope with three letters inside.
It's from 1942, I think somebody writing to his family.
The three letters have different locations on top of the letters.
On the front of the envelope is an addition 5-3-1942, maybe censored?

Anyone who can read this handwriting? I'm very curious what it is saying.
If somebody can, then I can also show the other three letters.

    Cheers Menno

The letter is sent from 3. Kompanie Luftnachrichten-Betriebs-Abteilung z.b.V. 16. Most feldpost is hard to read since most are written in gothic german or Sütterlin, a form of 'Kurrentschrift', as was normal at the time. They can be translated by professionals, and a average price would be £65 per 1000 words, with a minimum charge of £25 if it is only one document.

Other then that I would say that it look's like a interesting letter with a beautiful stamp!

The writing on the left side of the envelope reads: "Am 5.3.42 beantwortet!" meaning "Replied on 5 March 1942!"...

Thanks, interresting to know the "abteilung" it's coming from.
The costs of getting it translated is a bit too much for me....
I will take a copy to the W&P show next year, and show them to a German I met
there this year, maybe he can make something of it.

Yes it's quite expensive indeed, and greatly exceeds the value of the feldpost (1-2 £ for one like this). Most Germans can not read them either, all though some of the older generation Germans will be able to.

I found an online class, maybe I can make something of it myself.
A nice puzzle for the coming months...
