Hi Adrian.
Thanks again for your help.

Hello. Hope someone can point me in the right direction, if not answer my question. During WWII (early 1940s) I had a family member who met a German officer in western Ukraine who was with a Panzer unit that used FPN 27. He was transferred to the western front and they corresponded for a while and then lost touch (was he killed? taken pow?). Is there a resource where I can find what German unit used that fpn and also, perhaps, find out what happened to him? Would be much obliged. Thank you.
Hello All,
I've just come upon this site whilst trying to find information on the Feldpost numbers. To put it in context I'm basically a philatelist (stamp collector) and I've recently got hold of about 2 dozen covers and full letters from the 1st and 2nd world wars, all of them Feldpost or Luftfeldpost. It is my intention to write up a short history of the covers - like what unit they were from, where they were located at the time the letters were posted, you know the sort of thing. I note from Adrian Stephensons reply to Allan Williams post that there was at the time no record on line, is that still the case Adrian? If it is the case would you consider letting me have a copy of your CD?
Moving on I am having similar problems getting historic lists of the BFPO numbers and locations. You can get the current list, but the historic lists seem to have disappeared down a hole. I live just west of Derby, near Ilkeston Adrian, so if you are still in South Derbyshire we are, as they say, within spitting distance.
Anyway here's a couple of my Feldpost numbers - 02451 Luftfeldpost posted on 26/4/43 - I think this was part of the 123rd Infantry Division, which was on the Eastern Front in the Demjnsk pocket. 03294 also a Luftfeldpost posted on 16/08/1942 - I have no other information. 010421 Feldpost posted on 4/6/1940, this is 1 of 5 to the same person. 13651 or 7 on Feldpost posted on7/10/1939. The rest are 1st world war.
Thanks for any help.
John
There is a site for FpNr's but they do not list the numbers belo 10000 - Stempel Datenbank = for numbers 10001 and above just enter it in the box marked oder Nummer eines Nummernstempels and press return.
Here are the ones you have asked for, for the dates you have specified:
02451
(15.9.1940-31.1.1941) 13. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 415,
(1.8.1943-23.3.1944) 3.1.1944 13. Kompanie Grenadier-Regiment 415,
03294
(27.1.1942-14.7.1942) 14. Kompanie Kraftwagen-Transport-Abteilung III/616.
010421 isn't a FpNr as they only had 5 numbers.
13651
(Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 4. Kompanie Bau-Bataillon 249,
or 13657
(Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 5. Batterie Flak-Abteilung I/19,
