    Smile Feldpost numbers help

    Hi

I am new to this site so hope I am placing this thread in an appropriate place.

I am trying to identify the following feldpost numbers:

    36800A - In a ss driving licence

M10626 and 19148 (may be M19148) in a soldbuch to a member of a destroyer flotilla

M35032 and M20372 in a soldbuch belonging to a minesweeper crew member

    M01277A, M01277B and M23657 6 (may be a b) found in a 1943 Kriegsmarine diary.

and 18985 found in a soldbuch to a member of the LSSAH. This is an entry that may relate to his hospitalisation in April 1943.

I have collected these documents over many years and am now carrying out further research with all this spare time that is characteristic with part time teaching.

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Many thanks for your excellent help Ade. Sorry I did not reply earlier but I only have a working computer at work and a mobile phone that allows me to log in - but nothing else.

Sorry about posting so many but I sometimes get a bit over-enthusiastic about this stuff. It's a privaledge I think to own such interesing pieces of history. It's having the time to research them that's the problem!

The information that you supplied seems to agree with the documentation and ties in nicely with the units.

The Kriegsmarine soldbuch is very interesting and I would like to research this further.

It is a second issue item dated August 1943.

When you say that M35032 is 44 Minensuch grupp, does this also identify the ship that he was on, or is the minesweeper identified with the feldpost number the flagship?

The seal stamp M20372 is not clear - it was placed at the same time in the book as the fieldpost number - do you know what this may be? is this the flotilla headquarters? Do you know what it is likely to be?

All the best and many thanks for that very detailed reply - hope I did not put you to too much trouble.

    Many thanks

    Martyn
