Why not just invest it all in booze, gamblin' drugs and hookers like what I did.....Hell, I made Charlie Sheen look like Mother Theresa man....

The book is in poor condition for that astronomical price. As Ned said, its only half of the volumes. Bigtime pass.

$10,000 or less.....Hmm....if it's just military, you could invest in, say, a Blue Max/ Pour le Merite. Or if you want to stick to WWII, a nice Ritter Kreuz / Knight's Cross would be okey. If Awards are not to your preference, perhaps something in the line of an SS Honor Dagger? Personally, I would stay back from the uniforms and helmets, as the fakes are so omnipresent today and getting more sophisticated by the minute. The same goes for the SS Honor Rings. Maybe, if you're looking for something that Looks impressive, you could look into a nice Prussian Officer's Spike Helmet with the brass chin scales, front plate, etc. They do make many fakes of these also, though, so, as with anything-if you're interested in it, post the photos Here First before buying and everyone can confirm or reject it if it is good or not. 10 Grand is a good broad spectrum that should cover many very decent collectable investment pieces and I'm sure you should have no trouble finding something great.

Oh, I dunno.....The Red Badge of Courage, Siddartha and The Great Gatsby were right up there too.... It's been a hundred years since they made us read them in school, and I Still shudder at their memory...

Why don't we try the best book we have ever read. I will start, J.D. Salinger The Catcher in the Rye.

If you are in the U.S why don't you start a collection of military firearms? Get a Garand a carbine a luger or two then you could have a whole collection instead of one rare item.

Well, if You want to make some money You have to have a lot of knowledge. I started to collect III Reich items 15 years ago. The price of EKII was then around 25 euros, now it is around 50-60. I will not call it a good business if You can double Your money in 10 years because all prices are also rising. Let's take for example beer and gasoline:-).

Collecting is mostly just a hobby, not an investment. For me it is hard to sell even these militaria items I really do not need in my collection. For example I have decided to sell like 100-150 III Reich items from my collection this year. But actually I have listed only 3-5... And bought 40-50 more:-) I belive every collector will understand me - it is always hard to give away anything and the money is not so important at all.
