Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
The name doesnt sound flemish but wallon. Sure he was in Sturmbrigade Langemarck and not Sturmbrigade Wallonien?
Cheers, Mads
I thought the same about the name Mads sounding more French than Flemish but the badge is that of the Flemish Lion and the Sint-Maartensfonds Flemish ss veterans association !!

He is Flemish all right!
The way his first name is written is defenetly the Flemish way!
You have got Flemish people with French sounding names, just like you will find Walloons having Flemish sounding names.
But he may not have been necessarly ϟϟ member.
The Sint Maartensfonds was founded in the early 50 ties and regrouped (mainly!) old East Front veterans of all services.
You would find also old memmbers of DRK, Flak, Todt, NSKK, youth services etc
Apparantly thise guy stayed in Germany.
cheers
