The link that Paul has added to this thread is enough to highlight that these pieces are incorrect. I hope that you didn't buy (or bid on), this item Normandie. Take note of the form, the artificial colouration and damage to the wood, the cheap brassy metal around the head of the stamp and quite often the script on the stamp itself is incorrect. These have been made for many years now, mostly in Poland, and they can be found bearing markings from anything such as a simple bold SS runes stamp, to a highly detailed (and accurate) marking for the post control room at KZ Gross-Rosen. Whatever the markings though, these all have one thing in common...they are not good. For original ink stamp examples, view the thread linked above, or visit "The Ruptured Duck" website, where many original pieces can be found. If I can find the images, I will post a few original examples later this week.

The aged wood looks quite convincing to me. What are the signs that wood has been artificially aged?

They can appear quite good Glenn, especially on some of the older fakes, but take a look at the example shown below. Look closely at the scratches, note how the edges are still quite sharp, and the grooves appear almost clean in places.
