Nice photo.
Thanks Steve
Just a fresh youngster as yet with little or no action under his belt as he hasn't been awarded the Panzerkampf Abzeichen when this was took, although he has been awarded the BWB. Nice photo, I wonder if he made it?
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

Very nice portrait, thanks for sharing it
If the Waffenfarbe piping, including the soutache on his headgear, is white - and it does look like it is - than he isn't Grossdeutschland as such. He is actually a member of Führer-Begleit-Bataillon.
Thanks to all and thank you very much for your contribution Hucks. it is very interesting, and I did not know at all that detail. have you other comparable pictures of the same unit for comparison?
I don't have any photos in my collection as such but there are plenty of examples in Vol 3 of Uniforms & Insignia Of The Grossdeutschland Division by Scott Pritchett. They were allocated white waffenfarbe to be worn on their panzer uniforms as a distinction of belonging to FBB. As it was a sister unit of GD they also wore the GD cufftitle.
Ok many thanks again, Hucks, you make me a happy man, it adds a lot of value to this photo for me
Nice photo Lengies.
