    Imperial works Hermann Göring

The imperial works Hermann Göring (official Bezeichnung Reichswerke AG for arch mining and iron foundries "Hermann Göring") were beside the I.G. Colors and the Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG the biggest German group in the third empire.

History [treatment] the Reichswerke AG was founded on the 15th July, 1937 to the dismantling of the ores camping down in Germany poor in iron. The dismantling was unprofitable, however, it was judged within the autarky attempts of the four-year plan as necessary. By Arisierung of foreign majority groups, how in March, 1938 of the Austrian alpine Montangesellschaft or the tschechoslowakischen Škoda works the imperial works grew up into a nationalized giant company.

The group occupied at his climax more than 600,000 workers, under it from 1943 more than 50 percent of forced laborers. After the war beginning the imperial works used since prisoner of war, deportees from the occupied areas as well as concentration camp prisoners. The SS established especially for it three concentration camps as outside commands / Nebenlager of the concentration camp new narrow nurse (Hamburg): the concentration camp Drütte, concentration camp Watenstedt/Leinde, concentration camp Salzgitter bath.

Hermann Göring-Werke were a state group – the empire held 90 percent of the family stocks, represent by the imperial economics ministry. For the classical Ruhr industrialists this group was a tiresome competition against whose foundation they fought. Nevertheless, on the 21st October, 1937 it came to a "conclusion of peace" as him the groups called same, while with board member Kimmich of German bank, Paul Pleiger, Peter Klöckner and Friedrich Flick met. In 1942 the group was anew structured and the most profitable subsidiaries were denationalized. The group should be denationalized after the war completely.

In April, 1945 the allied troops released about 40,000 prisoners of war, concentration camp prisoners, forced laborers and foreign manpower, they put out at that time more than half of the whole staff of the imperial works.

Among the rest, locations [treatment] locations of the group was:

    Mountain Am, (Luitpoldhütte)
    Salzgitter, (Salzgitter AG)
Maltheuern, (Sudetenländische Treibstoffwerke AG (STW), now PKN Orlen)
    Brüx, (Sudetenländische Bergbau AG (SUBAG))
    Vienna

The use of the HGW was the application of the forced laborers from this camp in the manufacture. He was not numbered to date.
